The Soulless Eye
A philosophical-metaphysical epic about the unconscious gaze and the illusion of perception
“When the gaze is no longer the seeing,
And the seeing is no longer the understanding,
Then the gaze is but the mask of life –
A senseless movement between darkness and instinct.”
The gaze – the great symbol of perception
Since the beginning, humans have attributed a sacred power to the gaze.
But when the eyes of a wild animal look straight at us, without blinking, without changing color…
Are we facing a soul?
Or is it just instinct operating through two empty holes?
That gaze – does not speak.
Does not argue.
Does not perceive.
It just looks.
But looking – is not knowing.
And knowing – is not necessarily consciousness.
Humans – those who look into nothingness and see themselves in it
I look into the eyes of animals and see suffering.
I look into the eyes of dolls and think they understand.
I look into the darkness and call it sacred silence.
But maybe…
It is only me – reflecting back on myself.
The soulless eye,
But I give it a soul so as not to feel alone.
In this wordless universe, every look is self-reflective.
Consciousness: The self-delusional mirror of the look
The epic of doubt: Does “I see” mean “I know”?
“Consciousness – is not light
But a broken mirror,
In which every look is bent
In the desire to know that one exists.”
The look – the origin of perception, or an illusion?
People think they know because they see.
But the eye does not know that it is looking.
Only when consciousness intervenes – “I am seeing” – does perception arise.
But…
What if consciousness is also just a layer of reflection?
What if “I see” is just an echo from the biological past?
2. Self-delusion – the nature of perception?
We think we see reality.
But we are only seeing how our brain interprets the world.
Consciousness is not light – it is a broken prism.
Every glance that passes through it is stained by the ego, by memories, by the illusion of “I”.
And so…
We think the eyes of wild animals have souls.
But no – they are just images of the ego that we throw into the void.
Meaning:
"I look at those eyes – soulless,
But the light reflects back at me.
Is consciousness
A mirror that dreams
Dreaming itself as perception,
But it is only a dream that has never awakened."
